Better Tomorrow

“Every day do something that will inch you closer to a better tomorrow.”
Doug Firebaugh

Every time I think I’m ready to get Sweet Santana off the ground there is a bit of hesitation that overcomes me. My mind starts racing with flooding thoughts of “what ifs” and my heart starts to beat faster.  Some may think that I am overreacting on having such an emotional “attachment” if you will to something so small.  For me, this is something huge! I always wanted to start a business of my own.  And this business is not just for my benefit, it’s for the benefit for the Rescues.  As of now, my main concern is for San Diego Bulldog Rescue, but eventually I would like to reach out and help others in my community and/or around the U.S.  Not just bulldogs, but other breeds as well.

Since my last post, I have made a few of my “it” products just have to set up a photo session and some time so that I can put them up in my Etsy store. I have also been dilly dally-ing with a jigsaw, some wood, gorilla glue and some clamps. I have no idea if the is going to work but one can try! Here are a few pictures of Mack and Blossom H. out in New Hampshire sporting their Irish Collars (martingale style).  They love it and have inspired me to design a few custom ones for my store.

This 1" & 1/2'' collar is made from light weight webbing similar to seatbelt material

One thing, I am so excited for is the OFFICIAL LOGO for Sweet Santana.  Oh I have dropped the “Co.” in case some of you were wondering.  This logo is IT! This will be on everything I make from now on.  BIG THANK YOU to Shanyne at Draw Interactive for making my fabulous logo and my PR Francis, CEO of Draw Interactive, who is working on the side to hook me up with some sort of interview via TV/magazine or something cool like that to “Blow my sh*t up”. LOL.  Well here it is what do you think? That bully you see of course is my baby girl, Santana.

I LOVE IT! Well that's all for now until next time. Thanks for stopping by!

"Exert your talents, and distinguish yourself, and don't think of retiring from the world, until the world will be sorry that you retire."
Samuel Johnson

WOW , this time it REALLY REALLY has been way to long since the last time that I have blogged on my site.  Well the wait is over.  Let me catch you up on some things that have been going on in the world of Sweet Santana.  NOTHING! I have been on a hiatus.   I have lost my fire.  I have been discouraged and not sure how I lost my passion for sewing, but I'm trying to find it.  I haven't really made anything new for my Etsy store and haven't really sold anything to donate to my cause which could be another thing adding to my hiatus/discouragement. But I'm hoping things will slowly change! I'm thinking of making a few "it" items for my store. No more "silent" orders. I think that's what threw me off a bit! Whats in my store is in my store, if items are not up for order then I will restock them as they come.  It's had as it is right now working a full time job and trying to make Sweet Santana work out. I hope you all will understand that I can no longer take special orders via E-mails and Facebook.  So just keep an eye out on my Etsy Store! Thanks for understanding and stopping by to read my sad post! =P Hopefully soon there will be better/happier postings to come!

Sneak Peek - New Doggie dress for Spring

Hello all! I just wanted to write up a quick blurb about what I'm working on for April (other than a few auction/raffles for rescue) So I'm thinking about designing a few doggie dress for the spring and wanted to let you all in on a "LEAK" hahah can I call it that if I'm the one leaking the pictures! Ha I just wanted to sound paparazzi like! Anyhow, here is one dress "The Betty".  This one was named after Vinny the Bulldog (mentioned from earlier post) since he ordered two to give to his "Betties" aka love of his lives!! heheh Well at least I like to think so.  These dress that will be posted in the next few weeks will be up for sale on my etsy site starting Mar. 29th. and will not be taking special orders until after April 1st.  Thanks for stopping by!

Passion

“If there is no passion in your life, then have you really lived? Find your passion, whatever it may be. Become it, and let it become you and you will find great things happen FOR you, TO you and BECAUSE of you.”  T. Alan Armstrong quotes

I wanted to change this up a bit and start off with a quote. What do you think? Sewing has recently been my passion while my husband and Santana have been my inspiration for doing what I do.  As many of you know, and for those that don't, I volunteer from San Diego Bulldog Rescue and have started my "business" in honor of them.  I donate 100% of my profits to help them. Why you maybe asking yourself.  It's simple. I have everything that I could every ask for: a roof over my head, food, water, and love.  All the necessities in life that I need in order to survive.  Everything else to me is a luxury. Sure I want more, but it's a "want" not a "need" to have.  I can save my money and get it when the time is right.  Another reason is because my husband and I are not in a position to foster a bullie, so the least I can do is give where I can.
Well since I haven't posted in a while, here are a few things that I have been up to.  Well nothing much! HA I have been helping out with a few auctions for different rescues (Long Island Bulldog Rescue and MidAtlantic Bulldog Rescue) as posted a few weeks about.  I have also made a few specail orders for specail bullies that have requested some fun items.  Here are a few pictures.

This is a harness that was made for Emma the bulldog (more pic to follow)

This is Mack the bulldog! He requested a 1 1/2'' thich harness to match his collar.
He has been asked to walk in a parade durning St.Patty's Day.  I am also making a one for his sister, Blossom.
"Betty" dress.  Vinny the bulldog asked me to make this for his love, Peggy Sue. What do you think?! =)
This is my Santana modeling the other "Betty" dress that Vinny ordered.  (She wasn't having that!)
New clutch purses that will but up on my site soon.  (http://www.sweetsantna.etsy.com/)

Well that's it for now.  I still have a few more special orders to create and also a donation basket for Socal Bulldog Rescue. I can't wait for that to be auctioned off!

Oh my I almost forgot! MY NEW LOGO! duh! Here she is:

So what do yo think?! I'm a fan! That lil pup is Santana when she was about 5 months old! heheh Cute huh?!

Coronado Valentine 10K (2-13-2011)

Hello! I don't normal blog about my outside life but I wanted to share this great accomplishment.  My friend, Christina T. and I completed our first 10K run.  Christina had done a few 5Ks up to this point but as for me this would be my first race event! We did it! We completed before our goals! I managed to run throughout the whole race, only stopping once to tie my shoe lace. Did you know there is a special way to tie your shoe laces?! I was never taught this and still don't know how but next run I will find out the secret.  All I kept thinking about was my husband screaming at me to keep going, not to stop, keep a steady pace and don't think about how long it is taking.  I was very impressed with myself, up until yesterday 3 miles was my longest run I could manage.  Yesterday I did 6.2 miles. I was BEAT once I crossed that finish line! It took Christina 1 hour and 4mins and me 1 hour and 8 mins to finish, not to shabby for not fully training for this. The last mile seemed so close yet so far, at about a quarter mile left I heard a lady say,"Damn, is this every going to end." I thought in my head, "Sh*t it better, my legs are going to fall!" There was a point towards the end of the race where I was waiting for my anticipation and adrenaline to finish were going to kick into high gear. Did it, nope not one ounce of adrenaline kicked in once I saw that finish line! What did kick in was the pain my legs were feeling! HOLY POOP! HELLO LEG MUSCLES! Well I will leave you with a few pictures of evidence that I did run this race! Thanks for stopping by!

p.s I know I look tore up but if you ran a 10K you wouldn't be looking so hot either! LOL

Up for auction

Well I have to say, I'm becoming a bit crafty. Which to me is a surprise, I have never really had an artistic side unless you count my "mad" makeup skills! HA! Anyhoot I just wanted to share a little piece that I was working on while watching the Puppy bowl and of course the super bowl.  This little step stool will be auctioned off this Friday (2/11 -2/13) in hopes to raise money for Long Island Bulldog Rescue.  It will be held on facebook so everyone can take a look and bid if they would like.  So here it is... what to you think?

I also plan to make it personalized somehow once they inform me of who the winner is.  This excites me so much because someone out there will actually have something that I made, not just my family! =)

Well thanks for stopping by, and please feel free to comment!

New Adventures....

Good afternoon all! I have a few new adventures coming along.  First one made me really think, I had a friend from my facebook, Vinny the bulldog, ask me to make two bulldog dresses for his loves/valentine "Bettie's" as he calls them (very cute this bulldog boy is).  Well he wanted them to resemble my "Sassy Apron" that I blogged about a few weeks back.  Well this was a tough task, I had to free hand the pattern to fit these curve-a-sious bulldog also make a matching tie so that he can match with his betties.  Who does this bully think he is! So demanding j/p, but cute.  I accepted his challenge and I have to admit the pattern came out good, I just need sew it all together and make his cute little ties so he can match  his loves.  I hope I get pictures of Vinny on his dates! ;) (Heheheh) Well actually I hope his 'betties' know about each other. What a dog! =P
The next custom order was for a harness with a handle.  This is for Emma the bulldog, you see she has a bit of arthritis and sometime needs extra help get up stair.  I thought this would be another good challenge, so I ordered a rubber handle (haven't seen it yet it should be in Tue).  Hopefully This handle isn't to big, I actually going to attach this to the "spine" of the harness and add a few padding cushions so there will not be much pressure place on Emma.  I sure hope she loves it! It's pink and very DIVA like!
The next two adventures I am excited for are to help Long Island Bulldog Rescue and So Cal Bulldog Rescue .  I will be donating a few items to them so they may auction them off to raise money for their rescue.  This is going to be fun! I haven't decided on what to make for them but I'm thinking that they need to be "generic" if you will.  If you noticed from my Etsy site it is geared for girl! So I figured if I could make them appeal to both sexes then there might be more of a "turn out" for bidding.
last but not least ( I hope), I have been offerd to help out a company (I can't say just ing case it doesn't happen) making dog bag holders. YAY! I'll leave it at that! This is the adventure that I'm hoping and praying to land. This would be AMAZING! Well that's all I got. I'll leave you a few pictures of the new things that I put up on my ETSY shop .  Also if you have a facebook acct.  and would like to be a "FAN" it out my facebook page : Sweet Santana Co.  (click the hyperlink) and then "LIKE" my page! This will keep you up to date on all the happening plus my blog and etsy shop are linked to that! YAY! Thanks for stopping by. Please feel free to comment, I'd love to hear from you.
